Private Collection #13 - Class 12
Sorry the edit from last class had some render issues I did not realize. Here is it fixed. My laptop is still broken so it is quite difficult to do work right now.

Private Collection #13 - Class 11
I have finished the environment. Here is the new render, no sound. I would love to get critique and advice on the sound from the midterm to see what I can improve. Also my laptop is somewhat broken at the moment, trying to see if I can fix it. Sound Critique Link

Private Collection #13 - Class 10
My progress from last update got corrupted so I have to do it all over again. I finished the staircase just needs a couple more tweaks. I unfortunately need to completely redo the calf. I was hoping to be completely done with the environment by now, but I was set back a few days by the file corruption. I will have the environment done by next class and will then continue refining sound etc.

Private Collection #13 - Class 9
I textured the two headed calf and placed it into the scene as well as gave it a little platform to stand on. I started the process of making the broken staircase. There is a hole to the bottom and hole to the upstairs as well as actual wooden stairs. I color matched my assets to the floor texture I already had but I still need to do some blending work on it. I had screenshots but they somehow got lost even though I saw them in my drive before I left Monty. I will add them du

How do we feel about this face wall in the anatomy room? I also added dust, animated the security cameras, added a blinking red dot to imply recording to a couple of them. Fixed the gaps in the ceiling of the last hallway. Fixed some textures, added wires strewn across the floor. Adjusted some colliding geometry, added a niche into the last hallway. Remaining to do list: Room 2: Texture two - headed calf Room 3: Organize central shelf Hallway/Elevator: Broken staircase Fix li

Upon popular request I made the curtains sway slightly in order to add some realism into the scene. I also added security cameras in the corners of each room, I plan on animating them slightly to follow the viewer through the scene. I removed the overhead lighting and put it in the final hallway, instead I replaced the ceiling with these carved relief tiles with many faces in them. I liked the idea of eyes looking at you from all angles. Here is the updated lighting in the fi

I finished the portraits in the Collector Hallway. I have also collected the remaining assets for the staircase, wires, ceiling tiles, and security camera that people suggested I added. They have been assembled, adjusted, and ready for layout. I also went in and did a bunch of small changes I noticed from the most recent render. Here is my updated to do list Room 1: Finalize details Room 2: Texture two - headed calf Make circus photography Add in a few more objects Finalize t

Private Collection #13 - Class 4
I've done further editing of the posters and started adding them into my scene. I sourced way more photos than I needed so I think I will add in more frames to really fill up the space. I also added in some final assets that I will need for the anatomy room. They have been resized, merged, textures fixed, pivot point reset, etc and are ready for placement.

Private Collection #13 - Class 3
I finished sourcing the posters and started compiling them into organized folders and sectioned off the ones I need to edit versus the ones I will leave as is. I turned the color photographs into grey scale and used the Photoshop Black & White feature to fine tune the different shades so that the photo would stand out more in certain areas. I have selected base images and subject images that I have isolated and have been combining. I don't want to leave too many photos unedit

Private Collection #13 - Class 2
I started sourcing posters of different vintage posters, circus photography, old medicine advertisements, medical illustrations, all from different parts of the world. I plan to do some editing here and there to further unease.

I found a luna moth and preserved it. This process helped me understand the bugs I am using in my project. Went to a the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine and found this anatomical illustration, somethign I want in the anatomy room. Lighting at the Cummer Museum in Jacksonville, Florida. Studying how different exhibits light their pieces.

I have had a myriad of technical issues but I believe I have solved them for the most part. Disappearing objects: When you place an object in Unreal it is technically a container "actor" that retains the scale and coordinates and then you can assign a static mesh and a material to it. For some reason the static mesh had disappeared from the actor, thus showing nothing. I went through my outliner and cycled through the objects, stopping at any of the actors that had a blank st

I had a bunch of props disappear from last time, I'm really not sure what happened. It wasn't like I forgot to save it was only a few here and there, mostly from the past week but some from way before that. While working to replace those I finished round 3 of asset gathering, hopefully my last large haul and just have a few things here and there to import. I completed most of the bug wall. Filling out the rest of the moth and insect boards as well as drawing inspiration from

Having some issues with lights disappearing from my laptop file to the Monty computer file. They have the same project settings, on the same Unreal version, and no known other changes. I'm curious whether or not it is a graphics card thing where one can handle the lights and the other can't. Or if it has something to do with the laptop being a mobile graphics card vs a computer. Sofia pointed it out it seems the whole chandelier light was missing. I will investigate further.

I know some assets have the emissive issue as well as some lights are missing. A lot of light fixtures are put in now and the circus room has a few more assets.

Today I wanted to talk about the emissive texture import issue. In the first image you can see the that the model does not receive any shadows and gives off a bright, over exposed look to the texture. It looks out of place and poor quality. After some troubleshooting, I've discovered it is the fault of the parent material in the engine settings. If I change the parent material from "MI_Unlit_Opaque_DS" to ""MI_Default_Opaque_DS" it turns that emissive glow to the texture and

Private Collection #13 - Class 13
I went to a local vintage store and took particular note of how different people set up their venues and decorations. I also paid close attention to how the areas were lit up as that is something I'm struggling with in my scenes. There were standard warehouse fluorescent lights up at the top of the ceiling. There were also large lamp fill lights that hung closer to the stations and often pointed directly at them. Then there were sometimes a few decorative lamps or led lined g
